Services

Doctors at our practice are on the Vocational Register of General Practitioners. This means that we have a commitment to general practice and to continuing medical education. We are committed to providing comprehensive care to all individuals and families in our community.

Our practice is fully accredited with AGPAL and operates to standards as determined by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).

Our services include

Promoting Healthy Living

We provide education on all health related conditions that will allow you to make good choices that ultimately lead to improved health and longevity.

Children’s Health and Immunisations

The doctors can advise on children’s health, baby care matters and infant problems with feeding, growth and development etc.

We give the full range of immunisations for infants and children. The Health Department provides most immunisations free of charge to the practice.

We have experienced Nursing staff who are able to give your child their immunisations in conjunction with a doctor review.

Please ask reception staff at the time of booking your appointment when the most suitable time to book is and what option you would like.

Skin Checks and Minor Surgery

Minor surgery including suturing of lacerations and treatment of minor fractures are carried out in the practice. All surgical equipment is either single use sterile items or sterilised instruments using autoclave under Australian sterilisation and Infection control guidelines.

Complete skin checks can be performed by all doctors. Some minor lesions can be removed at our surgery, or you can be referred on to a Specialist for ongoing care.

Asthma and Diabetes Care

Regular monitoring of each of these conditions can encourage a healthier approach to life and avoid possible future complications.

Our recall system is a regular prompt for affected patients to keep themselves in control of their condition. Medical evidence suggests that prevention of complications from these conditions can be secured by early and long term use of medication.

Travel Health and Vaccination Service

Immunisations and advice for travellers to overseas destinations can be provided. We are also an accredited Yellow Fever Vaccination centre. An appointment at least 6 weeks before your trip is advisable. Please enquire if we have the vaccine you require before your appointment.

Preventative Heath Care

Regular screening and vaccination saves lives and secures the health of future generations. We are fortunate in Queensland to have government funding of several new vaccines.

There are also initiatives such as bowel cancer screening, mammography, nutritional advice, skin checks, pap smears, cholesterol profiles and bone density screening which can help individuals improve their health.

Comprehensive Mature Aged Health Care

The reality of confronting illness and losing the abilities to maintain our independence increases significantly after reaching 75 years of age.

Arranging for additional support services to help our older patients who choose to live in their own home is a vital part of our practice role.

Patients who have relocated into aged care facilities can still continue to have medical care provided by the practice. Please discuss with your doctor to arrange visits.

Women’s Health

Our doctors have a special interest in women’s health and are able to provide a comprehensive approach to your care. We are able to provide pap smear and breast exams, prenatal advice, contraceptive advice, counselling, osteoporosis screening and discussion of menopause.

Men’s Health

Regular visits to your doctor can improve a man’s health and lifestyle. There are many significant aspects of men’s health that can be addressed with your doctor. Some of these include, testicular checks, prostate screening for men over 45 years of age, counselling, cardiovascular prevention and reviews, family planning advice.

Antenatal Care and Family Planning

We provide family planning advice, pap smears, maternity care and participate in shared antenatal care with the major maternity hospitals. We liaise closely with your Private Obstetrician throughout your pregnancy to provide optimal care for you and your baby.

Counselling

Both our doctors have a special interest in counselling.

Please advise when booking an appointment that you will need a longer consultation, normally 30 -40 minute duration. Completion of a Mental Health Plan is 40 minutes.

Medicals

Pre-employment, driving licence and insurance reports can be performed, as can comprehensive medical checks.

Please ask our reception staff about the costs of these medicals, and please advise at the time of booking your appointment that it is for a medical, so that the appropriate length of appointment can be given.

Remember to fill out all the relevant information of the forms prior to seeing the Doctor.

Palliative Care

Our doctors can become an important part of assisting patients and their families in care decisions. With other multidisciplinary health professionals involved in the planning of effective and quality care, an optimal palliative approach can be obtained.

Your doctor can provide counselling and bereavement support for patients and their families.

Dr Robert Zubeshaw is accredited to perform Recreational Dive Medicals. This Link will take you to a copy of the Medical Form required for this.
